Red Envelope for Shanghai Roastery

Chinese New Year growing up has always had a special place in my heart. Having half of my family in Taiwan, we sometimes had the opportunity to celebrate twice. Getting a red envelope from all of my relatives was always such a treat (no matter how old I got). So being asked to create a design for the Starbucks Roastery in Shanghai, was such a pleasure and an absolutely lovely trip down memory lane. The theme behind my design is the lucky number 8 (which phonetically sounds like “prosper”). In such a small space, I’ve packed it with that symbology (8 flower pedals, clusters of 8 coins, 8 infinity number 8s, the Chinese character for the number 8, etc).
